So – further to my previous post I got a chance to photograph the torch relay today. It’s exciting to me, politics aside, to photograph something that means something to people, and that I’ll probably never get another chance to photograph in my life. I made the best of the opportunity, and I’m quite happy with the results.
These are so far my favourites. I’ve used mcpactions.com “Touch of Light/Dark” action to clean up some shadow on the faces and lighten the ladies teeth in the portrait. I’ve also used the free “Gallery Frames” action to frame them – as you know I’m addicted to them right now, but there is just something I love about a simple black and white framed photo – it works in my world.
Minor editing in other areas, the photo of the changeover of the torches I used a graduated filter @ -2 stops exposure to bring out some colour in the otherwise drab sky – I compensated for that by lightening certain areas again afterwords.
Here they are.
Incidentally – I’d like to find out this woman’s name so I can give her copies of these. If anyone knows a good way to look up names of torchbearers I’d be interested to hear it.
